Oh yea I remember the Postman. I had a Budman T Shirt that I kept for many years that I got there. My favorite place was Moodys. At night it was so dark you could barely see. There was a nice bar in a hotel in Goofport but I dont remember the name. I should have been bounced out of there many times but I never was, the bartender was an older lady that was always nice as she could be to us. The Fiesta was a fav too. They used to have those straw hats in there. Then there was the Friendly Lounge, where overalls and white cowboy hats were the uniform of the day among the locals that hung out there. I remember playing Purple Haze on the jukebox once, several of the locals proved to be not so friendly at that point.

Hey! I just wanted to apologize for not spending more time here and cleaning up all the garbage that gets left behind by the retards. I tried to clean up the guest book some today so hope everyone is a little happier. I am the web master and I invented this web site to be a place for us Ex-BEES to get together and find old friends. I've renewed quite a few acquaintances since I started the site, and I do appreciate any help you can send my way. Send me an email if you see something you don't like or if there is something you want to see. I'll try to accommodate everyone. I am working a full time job, married, have kids and grandkids like most of you, and trying to build a new home, so it's kind of busy where I stay, but I'm doing my best here, and you all are welcome to help by letting me know what needs to be done.

MCB #133-A co. Mech. 3rd. class-1966 through 1968/ The Vietnam era. It's so hard to jog old memories. Expecially 30 some odd year old memories. As I remember, everybody had nicknames. The names Goss, Stimpson, Snitchler, Wahl, Beshears, Steele, & Barney all ring a bell. For instance, Stimpson, you should remember me. Snitchler, Beshears, and Steele should remember John Turner. And Barney, if your the guitar player, you should remember me. When you think about it, we never saw anyones name in print, so had no idea how to spell it. Dennis Ruocco, I probably new you, but haven't the foggiest idea how the hell we pronounced it back then. And being from A co., and no names under our photo's, I can't even identify myself, let alone anyone else. I have to admit, it's never been easy being me, but now that I'm considered hoarfrost, ( old & gray ) it's even harder. I did manage to get in touch with Fred Malone, and Jim Maness, but the rest of you guys are being very illusive. I mean, for crying out loud you guys, we've come from outhouses to the hightech computer age. Let's get it together!!! Here's to the good old days of #133- Clink!!!!

As a five year Bee, three of which were with NMCB 133, I must agree with Al "Woody" Wood. What's all this telemarketing doing on our web page. I click on to look for old friends not to read about what someone is selling. Why don't you go get a real job and leave this page to those who served their country and want to stay in touch with old friends. Are there any old Bee's from 80-83 out there? He was a steelworker and went to work for a company named CBI as soon as he got out. If you think you remember him or served with him and have photos of men who served in Greenland, please email me. I agree with many people, this is a great site, for three hours I have been reading comments from fellow Seabees. I served in the Seabees from 1954-1958. I spent my time from Feb. 1955 in Port Hueneme going to Builders School, and then on to Cubic Point in the Phillipines working on the Airstrip untill June 1956. I then was assigned to the Carpenter shop at Atsugi Naval Air Station in Japan untill November 1958. If anyone served in those places around that time, please get in touch with me.

FOURTH MARINE DIVISION ASSOCIATION ____________________________________________________________ 1 November 2000 J.D. Mahar, Commander, U.S. Navy Department of the Navy Office of the Secretary Washington, D.C. 20350-1000 Dear Commander Mahar: At the request of Peter S. Marra,LCDR,CEC,USNR-RET I am submitting the following testimony as an on-site observer of the activity of the 133rd Naval Construction Battalion as a unit of the Fourth Marine Division in the battle of Iwo-Jima. When I learned from LCDR Marra's letter that the 133rd NCB did not receive the Presidential Unit Citation I was stunned. Of course they richly deserve it! I was the Commanding Officer, 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marines, 4th Marine Division. Company C of the 133rd NCB with Lt. Don Greenfield in command was aboard the troopship Lowndes (APA 154) on which my battalion was embarked for the Iwo battle. I got to know Don very well on the way to our objective. I recall that the 133rd NCB received heavy casualties on D-Day, 19 February 1945 and that his Company C and the 133rd NCB performed admirably throughout the battle. In view of the above I strongly recommend that the Presidential Unit Citation be now belatedly awarded to the 133rd NCB for the obvious oversight. Sincerely, J. Shelton Scales,COL,USMCR-RET This is the letter that COL. Scales sent to the Navy Awards Branch. There were six Seabee Battalions that received the Presidential Unit Citation during WWII. All of them had far less casualties (under 100) than the (370) the 133rd NCB suffered. The 133rd had the most casualties of any Seabee Battalion in history! John Ratomski

I know that he was in the seabees (MCB-133) and went to Saigon in July of 69. I have a list of other guys he was with, but am having trouble finding out the platoon #, or whatever smaller group he was in. I have a lot of photos he left, and would like to share them. Up dating my E mail address. MCB 133 Phu Bai Camp Campbell. I was attached to "H" Company but on security. Myself and several others were on a listening post. There were Brown, Heyser, Postier to name few. If you know where they are send them in my direction. Many memories there. It seems like yesterday both during the day and in my dreams. Remember the fire fight we had and you guys in the bunkers were shooting at us while the flares hovered over us for hours. Finally Sgt Flowers said "every man for himself" as he could not get the line to cease fire. Remember the Claymor mines. The C 4 was great for heating those wonderful sea rations. Remember the beef stew, the Ham and Lima beans. Oh the cookies. packaged in 1948. "Go out and make it a great day"

Surfin the web & look what I found. Man, has it been awhile. I was in 133 from 74' to 77. Did Oki. Rosey Roads & the rock. Now that I look back, it was all a blur. To much partying, but made some great freinds. Just looking through, I still remember some of the names. And I found someone looking for me? ( hi Perry). I got out in July of 77', married & still live on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast ( Long Beach, Ms.) Some of us stayed down here after being discharged. Wayne Gordon ( flash ) randy sheets, Ed Aaotte, Steve Dodge, & a few more. Bravo Co.was a wild partying Co. & UTs still rule,& 133 is still second to none. I don''t remember a lot of names but I'll never forget the good times. Go Kangroos P.S. I go by craig now.

What’s the haps fellow Bee’s. Called the recruiting office today and asked if they would let an old Builder Chief back in to do his duty. The recruiter was very kind, but I don’t think they are scraping the bottom of the barrel just yet. So, my best wished to all you green worriers out there on active duty. And, you reservists who stand ready. There was nothing glorious about Viet Nam or any other war this country has fought. About 90% boredom and 10% pure havoc. But, I know all will do their duty with pride and honor. God bless all you young lions.

Second tour was a little different, I drove trucks from Gia Le to DaNang until they found out that I ran cranes. I spent 90 days, 16 hours a day running the crane on the repair of the Hue Bridge. Haven't looked up any of my old mates since I've screwed up my life for 30 years. I've always believed that someday I would become a great writer. But just now, I've discovered that it has all been a grand illusion of infantile dreams. Every time I feel I am teetering on the edge of a precipice to infinity, I think back to my buddies in MCB-6 and MCB-133 in Gitmo Bay and Vietnam, and recall when I had friends, when I was young and strong, when I was an old fashioned patriot who craved his nation's love, and when once I had a shining purpose in life. I'm the Bee in Alpha Co. 1st Platoon with the cocked hat and crossed arms (I'd been in-country for over nine months then with MCB-6), served in the Security Platoon and as an EOH. I thought I was John Wayne but I turned out more like someone out of Full Metal Jacket or Apocalypse Now, or The Simpsons ... on drugs -- I was just plain dumb and weird! As the second hand to my wristwatch rushes madly around, at last I've turned full circle, and come home again, among the sturdy ranks of old friends. Perhaps the hot breath of the angel of death on the nape of my neck spurred me to write. Perhaps it was cowardice, or shame. I changed my name many times to hide from my past, so, unless my picture in the web site has a name (thankfully it doesn't) you may not remember me. But write anyway, and offer me any words of encouragement to appease this debilitating pain in my angry heart, write if you have the password to mend the gaping wounds of time. Oh, yes. I dream of someday, when we march together again on the road to heaven or hell, we'll smile, and recall, and pass on with calm dignity to the infinite, and our footprints shall live on in the hearts and minds of our younger comrades, and our lives would not have been in vain after all. "I too shall lie in the dust when I am dead, but now let me win noble renown" -- Homer c. 700 B.C. "No man can be a patriot on an empty stomach" -- William Cowper (1731-1800) Adios, so-long and au revoir mes ami. "Can Do" JR

The 133rd NCB is still trying to get the Presidential Unit Citation for their role in the invasion and securing of Iwo-Jima.The 133rd NCB suffered the highest casualties of any Seabee unit in history. The totals exceeded the casualties of the 4th Marine Division Pioneer Battalion in which they were working. The members of the 133rd NCB wore Marine uniforms, were subject to Marine regulations and were active participants of the 4th Marine Division assault team and were not identified asa part of a support group.since Marine veterans have said that Iwo-Jima was the toughest battle they ever fought, it seems fitting and appropriate that the survivors of the 133rd NCB finally get their due!!!

If you have any links that I may search please get back to me.

I would REALLY like to hear any news about CMCS David Morgan (ret). Hope to hear from you soon!

Hey to all I served with from 84-88 and again 97-2000 133 is best in the NCF. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. Those years were my most rewarding.

Hello, I am dedicating my doctoral dissertation to two areas of interest to Vietnam veterans: The Vietnam Veteran Myth (misperceptions about Vietnam veterans) and wannabes. To gather data for my study I will be sending out surveys (about 15-20 minutes to complete) in a couple of weeks. I desperately need volunteers to take the survey. Because veterans have voiced concerns aboutwannabes, I am asking volunteers to send a copy of their DD214. Surveys will be mailed and returned by e-mail, confidentiality is guaranteed. My dad was a medic during the Vietnam War and the Korean War. Please take a few minutes to contact me. Thank you.Dorothy
